October 2026 Meetup

The October BangPypers meetup was held at the EPAM Systems Bengaluru office in collaboration with Functional Programming India.

Sanchayan Maity kicked off the meetup with “Introduction to Haskell”, a beginner-friendly talk exploring Haskell and its powerful concepts through comparisons with other programming paradigms. There was more material than could fit into 30 minutes, but he covered most of it, skipping a few slides. You can contact him for the slides if you’d like to learn more!

Up next, Karthik Sahu showcased a business use case for Lumen, an analytics engine powered by generative AI, with jev serving as its decision engine in the background.

Our final talk, “The BEAM Odyssey”, was by Benjamin Philip. He took us on a journey from Erlang and its features to Elixir, exploring the BEAM virtual machine, which runs code compiled from Erlang, Elixir, and other languages.

Finally, EPAM hosted a quiz with two winners. Congratulations to Tiyasa Bannerjee and Kumar Anirudh!
